Ever wonder about the next wave of budding superstars ready to burst onto the NHL scene? You might know their names but nothing about who they are, where they come from and where their careers are going.
That's where we come in.
Join Dean Millard
and Guy Flaming
each week for an in-depth examination of the top hockey prospects coming down the pipe on... The Pipeline Show!
2005-06 was the debut year for The Pipeline Show and our unique focus quickly found its niche in the North American sports market. Over the course of our initial 6-month run on Edmonton’s dedicated sports radio station TEAM 1260, we had the opportunity to speak with world class hockey prospects, renowned coaches and scouts as well as various respected members of the media throughout the continent.
Hosts Dean Millard from Global TV and TEAM 1260's resident prospect guru Guy Flaming guide listeners through the various junior, college and minor pro leagues, shining a spotlight on an otherwise largely uncovered landscape. The World Junior Championships, the NCAA Frozen Four, the Memorial Cup and the NHL Entry Draft are what we call our Grand Slam events.
No hockey prospects show would be complete without player interviews and The Pipeline Show speaks with some of the biggest names in the future of hockey. Cam Ward went on to win the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after appearing on our second show way back in February of 2006. Carey Price, Steven Stamkos, Patrick Kane, Jonathon Toews, John Tavares, Peter Mueller... the list of former guests goes on and on.
We don't exclude those veteran superstars though but when we talk to them it's about where they came from and what life was like before they became household names. Mike Modano, Curtis Joseph, Adam Foote, Bill Guerin, Zach Parise, etc.
You never know when a NHL Hall of Fame personality will show up either. Ron Francis, Luc Robitaille, Mark Messier, Patrick Roy - all past guests of The Pipeline Show!
The Pipeline Show is about interaction and we're asking you the listener to get involved and Pipe Up! Weekly trivia contests, email and even the chance to ask your questions directly to some of our guests provide you the fan with the opportunity to help us make the show as good as it can be. Be sure to include a name on your email and tell us where you're from. We'll try to answer your email on the air or we might send you a response afterwards.
